Features: Aluminum oxide mineral is durable, cuts fast, and performs well on many surfaces | Stikit adhesive backing provides easy disc changes and convenient roll form means no liners to remove, increasing productivity | 5-hole dust-free feature allows a vacuum to capture dust for a cleaner workspace and longer disc life | A-weight light paper backing is suitable for finishing applications | Open coat construction and load-resistant coating prevent premature loading of the disc surface to maximize cut and extend the life of the abrasive grains

Product DescriptionAn durable aluminum oxide Stikit disc roll constructed on an A weight light paper backing. Good value. Load resistant. Convenient disc roll form. Dust control. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade and a special loading resistant coating makes this disc a good choice when loading is a problem. Slightly more aggressive than 214U. Coat type: open coat. Gold color. Diameter: 6". P100 Grade. Number of holes: 5. Maximum speed: 12000 rpm. From the ManufacturerThe 3M™ Stikit™ Gold Paper D/F Disc Roll 216U is designed for convenience, combining 5-hole D/F (dust-free) aluminum oxide discs with a handy adhesive backing ready for quick and easy attachment to a 3M™ Stikit™ D/F Disc Pad on a random orbital sander (both sold separately). The disc roll makes the discs easy to grab while eliminating the use of disc liners. Discs are made of long-lasting aluminum oxide abrasive grains on a light A-weight paper backing suitable for lightweight sanding and finishing. Because dust management is built into the disc, these discs are up to the task when loading would otherwise burden the sanding or finishing process. When used with a vacuum system, the 5-hole design not only resists loading, but also reduces unhealthy working conditions due to air-borne dust. Open coat construction and a load-resistant coating prevent dust and debris from congesting the surface of the disc and its cutting points. The dust-free design makes these discs well-suited for work on clear coats, hardwood, paint, finish prep/repair, defect repair/leveling, primer, softwood, and topcoats.3M Stikit discs are designed to handle a wide range of sanding and finishing needs. These high-quality, coated abrasive products come ready to use with a pressure sensitive adhesive coating on the backside so they conveniently press on to the backup pad, and remove cleanly, leaving an uncontaminated surface for the next disc. A Stikit D/F disc should be used in conjunction with a 3M™ Stikit™ D/F Disc Pad (sold separately) that is attached to a random orbital sander. Stikit disc rolls are rolls of adhesive-backed discs that are convenient to tear off one at a time, and reduce costs by eliminating liners.Loading occurs when wood or paint dust clogs the surface of the disc and the abrasive points, which can quickly make the disc ineffective. Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are spaced so that dust and debris can collect in the spaces rather than loading the disc. Additionally, the open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, for faster results. The 5-hole pattern dust-management system uses a series of evenly-spaced holes in the abrasive, that are aligned with the holes in the disc pad. Suction (vacuum) is drawn through the holes to help collect the dust from the air and on the workpiece, for improved working conditions and increasing productivity.Aluminum oxide is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its fast cut-rate and long life. This mineral makes a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives such as garnet quickly wear down with use. Due to its fast cut-rate, hardness, and strength, it is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing applications. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a wide variety of materials in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries.
