This traditional method continues to be a preferred tapping method for when precision tapping is required on prototypes, one-off, post processing, and when minimal material exists around the hole. holes in a hole patterns is too significant to include in a machine program. In essence the tool has a basic "T-Wrench" configuration, which uses handles that extend from the center axis of the tap so that additional torque in the tap can be created. Since a tap requires a specific amount of material at a specific dimension in order to create an effective thread, this manual method can provide excellent feedback to the operator as they progress the tap into the thru-hole.
