Features: Zirconia alumina abrasive is self-sharpening and more durable than aluminum oxide | Type 29 angled style is more aggressive than type 27 style and is used for weld blending, deburring, deflashing, edge chamfering, stock removal, and grinding and finishing in one step | Composite backing can be trimmed, exposing more abrasive to extend the disc's life and increase its flexibility | Designed for use at a 15- to 35-degree angle | Unthreaded round hole for attachment to grinding tools

The Weiler trimmable Tiger type 29 angled-style zirconia alumina abrasive flap disc has a composite backing that can be trimmed to extend the life of the disc and an unthreaded round hole for attachment to grinding tools, and works well on curved surfaces. The zirconia alumina abrasive is self-sharpening and more durable than aluminum oxide, which makes it suitable for fast material removal rates and aggressive grinding. The disc's composite backing can be trimmed up to 3/8" from its original diameter. This exposes more abrasive, which extends disc life and allows greater flexibility in hard-to-reach areas than discs without a trimmable backing. Applications include weld blending, deburring, deflashing, edge chamfering, stock removal, and grinding and finishing in one step. The disc has an angled shape for maximum workpiece contact and is commonly used with right-angle grinders at a 15- to 35-degree angle. It has an unthreaded round hole for attachment to the grinding tool. The tool's arbor goes through the central hole in the disc for fastening.Abrasive flap discs are made from overlapping pieces of coated abrasive attached to a hub. They help reduce finishing time and cost by grinding and finishing in the same step, such as when removing a weld bead and smoothing the workpiece around the weld. Flap discs are coated, meaning an adhesive is used to attach the abrasive grains to a backing of paper, plastic, or cloth. The action of a flap disc is much like that of a sanding disc: the grinding or polishing occurs on the face of the disc. They are used for a variety of applications from shaping a part to fine finishing, depending on the grit size. Low grit numbers like 40 are coarse (with fewer, larger grains) and remove excess material and shape parts. High grit numbers like 400 are fine (with more, smaller grains) and help create a smooth surface finish.Weiler manufactures precision brushes, abrasives, and maintenance products. The company was founded in 1898 in Germany, is headquartered in Cresco, PA, and is International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 certified.
